Overanalyzing Anime

While it may seem strange to do a review on a trailer, I feel that the first trailer to a movie ten years in the making is worth spending a minute discussing.
I want to start by saying this trailer was absolutely AMAZING. It’s truly INCREDIBLE just how much Marvel embedded within such a brief 2 minutes and 34 seconds. From the start of the trailer, I was hooked – with the all too familiar sound of Nick Fury being the first voice we hear, as many of our favorite characters take their turns speaking his famous lines from the very first Avengers film. We see a slew of familiar faces, some of whom we’ve never had the pleasure of seeing together before – such as Banner and Stark with Doctor Strange and Wong, as well as Thor with the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s going to be an absolute pleasure to see these characters interact with one another for more than the couple of minutes we’ve seen so far.
Perhaps the best parts of the trailer had less to do with the heroes, and more to do with the main man himself – Thanos. I’ve been in love with this character since the first GOTG, wherein he spoke down to Ronan – a terrifying threat in his own right – like he was nothing more than an impudent child. Now, we finally get to see him and action, and he did not disappoint. What I love most about his character is the confidence he has in his own ability – his monologue throughout the trailer showed us that fear is not a trait that the Mad Titan possesses.
And lastly I want to mention the score. I know we all recognize from the previous Avengers, but having slowed it down ever so slightly, its’ become all the more powerful. I loved how it slowly built throughout the entire trailer, finally coming to a head as the title came into view.
If you can’t tell by now, I’m pumped about this movie. After watching seventeen of these films (eighteen by the time this comes out) I can’t wait to see it finally pay off. This is what we’ve been waiting over a decade for, & from the looks of this trailer, it’s going to be well worth the wait. I cannot wait until May.
