Overanalyzing Anime
Blog Owner & Lead Writer

A few months ago rumblings began about the possibility of a Watchmen series in development at HBO. While the series hasn’t been officially ordered as of yet, I’ve continued to see news suggesting that it‘s only a matter of time. Since I’ve been doing so many posts about the Watchmen as of late, I decided it would be appropriate to include my thoughts on the development of this new series.
When I originally heard the news my mind thought of many different things, but the most prominent of those thoughts was whether or not it would be just one season. From what I’ve read it seems as though it may leave the door open for multiple seasons, which is something I find incredibly interesting. While the prospect of multiple seasons would be incredible, a second season would be difficult to accomplish seeing as we now know the outcome of Ozymandias’ actions (courtesy of Doomsday Clock). That being said I imagine Damon Lindelof will take plenty of creative liberties, as to not create a carbon copy of the original story; & if a second season were to come to fruition, I highly doubt it’ll be even remotely beholden to Doomsday Clock in any way.
That being said, while this new Watchmen series may not acknowledge the new established future, I do hope that it pulls from the well of the Before Watchmen comics, which have provided a substantial amount of information about most of our favorite characters. In fact, the Before Watchmen comics could arguably contain enough content to warrant a season devoted solely to it.
At this point I’m sure you all probably think I’m the biggest Watchmen fanboy around - & you may be right - but it’s really just such an excellent piece of literature &, as such, it deserves an equally magnificent representation in it’s live-action representation. While I enjoyed Zach Snyder’s version - especially the way in which he went about placing the blame for the attack - it was limited by time constraints. This series (hopefully) wont have that problem.
All in all, I’m very excited by the prospect of this project! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
