#TheBatmanWhoLaughs #1: While campy in ways that serve to highlight the ridiculousness of the #Batman (ex. “Joker’s Super Toxin”), this new story managed to subvert my expectations by setting the stage for a very interesting battle between not just 1, but 2 laughing Bats. 4/5 — Feb 20th
#TheBatmanWhoLaughs #2: All the ingenuity of #Batman, coupled with all the sadism of #TheJoker; “TBWL” is a monster, but one who’s found happiness within the chaos - unlike our forlorn “Nightmare Batman.” With plenty of action & depth, issue #2 of “TBWL” is def. 1 to read. 4.5/5 — Feb 21st
#TheBatmanWhoLaughs #3: After taking a series of L’s, #Batman is forced to explore more unconventional options if he has any hope of winning. With the campiness of the 1st 2 issues dialed back the stakes have never felt more dire, as our hero approaches his darkest night. 4.5/5 — Feb 22nd
#TheGrimKnight #1: “TGK” presents us with a ver. of #Batman who is essentially #ThePunisher - &, for all intents & purposes, it makes for a stimulating read. However, interesting tho he may be, I believe less is better in this case; so, I hope he’s put to rest after this arc. 4/5 — May 20th
#TheBatmanWhoLaughs #4: Finding it increasingly difficult to fight TBWL on 2 fronts, Batman decides to embrace the “Toxin” in an attempt to even the playing field. ”#4” also further cements TBWL as Batman’s ultimate nemesis, as he continues to outwit our hero @ every turn. 3.5/5 — May 26th
#TheBatmanWhoLaughs #5: While “#5”’def. has its moments (ex. adding to the lore), I can’t help but be irked. #TBWL is such an indomitable char.; & seeing him continually (& effortlessly) win is becoming boring. I get it, he’s OP, but, it’d be nice to see him struggle a lil. 3.5/5 — May 27th
#TheBatmanWhoLaughs #6: Just when it appears as tho B *finally* has a viable plan, TBWL 1up’s him.. again. @ this point, I’m wondering if our B can even win; or if, perhaps, a dif. B will be the 1 to defeat TBWL. Also, is anyone invested in the Gordon subplot; bc I’m sure not. 4/5 - Jun 14th
#TheBatmanWhoLaughs #7: As epic as this should have been, I ultimately felt... underwhelmed. The highlight stems from the conversation between Bruce & Alfred in the latter half, but even that feels.. *sigh* I don’t know, dull. Here’s hoping the final page leads to some fun. 3.5/5 - Aug 24th
