Positive Aspects
For years I’ve always wondered what it’d look like, how it’d feel; what it‘d taste like.. well, maybe not that last one, but you get what I’m saying. More so than any other superhero team, I have always wanted to see a film wherein the iconic heroes of my childhood fought together against any evildoer who might threaten our planet. Yes, there were the cartoons that served to temporarily quench my thirst, but with heroes such as Ironman, Hulk, Thor, & Captain America coming together in the Avengers film, I couldn’t help but wonder when my favorite heroes would get their chance to stand in the sun. Well, that time has arrived
So, I want to start by focusing on the cast and how well each of them played their roles. If you have seen the previous movies (especially BvS) then you need not worry about seeing Sad Superman or Homicidal Batman - fortunately you still get a lot of fan-favorite Wonder Woman, as well as newcomers The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman. While plenty of people fell in love with The Flash (myself included) I actually felt that Cyborg was one of the standouts as the brooding, metallic man, trying to come to terms with what he has become. I really feel that this film did an excellent job in creating a truly unique team; one which I can definitely see evolving into a family as time goes on.
I enjoyed the fact that this film was more lighthearted than it’s direct predecessor, BvS. As much as I enjoy drama in a film, I also crave moments wherein characters relax & crack a joke or two. That’s how it is in most of their comics - it only makes sense that it would translate into the films as well.
All in all, Justice League is a whole lot of fun & definitely worth watching while it’s in theaters. If you haven’t already I would definitely say check it out - if for no other reason than to be a part of the experience.

Negative Aspects
While Justice League is a whole lot of fun for fans & non-fans alike, it’s not without it’s fair share of issues. The most glaring problem I have with the film is the fact that it hinges too much on the audience having seen Batman v. Superman. While I have seen the film, I imagine that there were a decent number of people who may not have seen it going into Justice League and, as a result, may have been terribly confused by a certain characters death. I didn’t very much care for that aspect of the film. The first time these heroes appear together, it should be something anyone can enjoy without having seen previous films. Seeing what came before should be an added treat, not a prerequisite.
Aside from that, perhaps the most noticeable faux pas was the CGI during certain moments of the film, which made me feel like I was watching an animated film akin to the old Beowulf “live-action” film. Especially Cavill’s mustache removal. Yikes.
I also took issue with the villain, but this one of the more forgivable aspects of the film. I’m used to villains in ensemble movies being filled with personality, but this villain was far more bland than I was expecting. However, by focusing less on the villain, the film was able to use its’ limited runtime to focus more on the heroes.
My last major issue with the film is the same issue I have with the DCEU as a whole, which is their inability to tell a tight, meaningful story when more than one character is involved (Ex. Man of Steel & Wonder Woman are great, while Dawn of Justice & Suicide Squad are not). I can’t say I’m all too thrilled on the prospect of their future ensemble films. Flashpoint is the next big one, & I really hope they get it together by the time that rolls out. Fingers crossed.
All in all, the movie isn’t bad - but there is definite room for improvement.
My score: 7.5/10
