Overanalyzing Anime

Injustice 2 #54 picks up immediately where the last chapter left off, with Tomar-Re's ring leaving planet Harring in search of a suitable new Green Lantern to take his place. From there, the chapter takes us back to Jordan in his jail cell, where we see him conversing with Guy yet again. Soranik arrives and informs him that he will be released from solitary confinement tomorrow, and that he has to refrain from having physical confrontations with other inmates.
From there, she goes to see her father, Sinestro, - not as the warden but as his daughter - to ask what happened to her mother. He tells her that she was assassinated, but she doesn't believe the story and pushes him for answers. Sinestro quickly becomes enraged when she makes the claims that her mother killed herself in order to get away from him, and tries to steal her ring from her. Soranik is easily able to stave him off, and pushes him through the wall, to the next cell, which is Hal Jordan's. Just then, she receives a call from another lantern who informs her of Tomar-Re's murder.
Before she has a chance to make a decision on evacuating the planet, a flash of red demolishes the building. Soranik manages to use her ring to shield herself, her father, and Hal Jordan. The trio look up to find that a number of Red Lanterns are hovering above them. Dex-Starr, hovering just above the shoulder of Atrocitous, tells him that he's found Sinestro for him.
This issue was interesting in that it gave Soranik yet another opportunity to shine. Watching her confront her father about the death of her mother was highly entertaining, especially because Sinestro could only sit and listen as she questioned him about the situation. I remember back in Injustice: Year Two, Issue #7, we were given his backstory from his own perspective, and it showed that his wife had killed herself once she realized just how much of a monster her husband had become. Refusing to except the reality of the situation, Sinestro claimed that she had been assassinated by Rebels that fought to overthrow his "benevolent" rule. But, in this chapter Soranik calls him on his bull and forces him to face the truth that she did, in fact, kill herself so that she could be free of the tyrant.
While Guy's ghost has been an interesting concept, I do hope that he doesn't wear out his welcome. I like the fact that Hal is dealing with that loss, but I'm not particularly a fan of him constantly appearing to him in this manner. It's just really not healthy, and cute frankly isn't what a hero should be doing. I suppose, though, at this point Hal is not a hero; he's a man trying to correct the mistakes in his path - a man seeking redemption. So, while the ghost is somewhat appropriate, I just hope it doesn't drag on for too long, especially since I'm just really not a fan of Guy to begin with.
While I thought that the Red Lanterns were there to claim Hal Jordan, just as they attempted to do in the Injustice 2 story mode, I was surprised to see that their true mission was, instead, to find Sinestro. I can't imagine that they are there to liberate him, as the Red Lanterns Corps. have seldom ever been an ally of the Sinestro Corps., but things could be different in this particular universe - such as Batman having a daughter he didn't realize existed. I'm very curious to see where things will go from here - my personal throw would be that the Red Lantern Corps. are there to kill the now de-powered Sinestro, and that the Green Lantern Corps. will be forced to fight to protect him. We'll find out more next week when Issue #55 is released!
