Overanalyzing Anime
Blog Owner & Lead Writer

#HeroesInCrisis #1: “Crisis” has always been synonymous with cataclysmic events, which is why the intimate feel & scope of “HiC #1” is unexpected.. but welcomed. Its use of page long vignettes, evocative artwork, & a compelling premise all have me excited to keep reading. 4.5/5 — Feb. 25th

#HeroesInCrisis #2: More a “Crisis of Faith” than anything else, the 2nd issue of “HiC” gets *very* personal with #DC’s Trinity as they divulge their innermost private thoughts in another batch of one pages vignettes. These brief moments alone make issue #2 worth the read. 4.5/5 — Feb. 25th

#HeroesInCrisis #3: Focusing on the moments leading up to the end of #Sanctuary, issue #3 managed to answer some questions, while simultaneously posing *plenty* of new ones. Also, the emotional dissection of #KidFlash, #LagoonBoy, & #BoosterGold was a pleasent change of pace. 4/5 — Feb. 26th

#HeroesInCrisis #4: While still no closer to solving the mystery of the #Sanctuary murders, “HiC #4” does present us with an interesting new alliance, as well as a bombshell, “world changing,” announcement. Also, I appreciate that subtle #Watchmen “35 (seconds)” #EasterEgg. 4/5 — Feb. 27th

#HeroesInCrisis #5: #Superman takes center stage as he delivers a powerful, 4th wall breaking speech that not only speaks to the (often) sacrificial nature of super-heroics, but also the burden of everyday, real life heroes. A solid issue with incredible artistic direction. 4.5/5 — Feb. 27th

#HeroesInCrisis #6: Serving as a dif. take on the timeline of “HiC #3”, this issue just feels like a repeat of what we’ve already seen (albeit with a dif. ending). While it did manage to subvert expectations, it wasn’t in any desirable way. Here’s hoping “HiC #7” is better. 3.5/5 — Feb. 27th

#HeroesInCrisis #7: It’s really unfortunate that the deeper we get into #HiC, the less compelling it becomes. Yeah, sure, the ending of #7 sets the stage for what *could* be an interesting penultimate issue; but, honestly, @ this point, I‘m just over this arc. thank u, next. 3/5 — May 20th

#HeroesInCrisis #8: I have mixed feelings about this issue. On 1 hand, it finally told us what really happened @ Sanctuary; on the other hand, now that I know, I find it all very absurd. From collecting deleted data thru the air to the whole cover up. It’s all just.. *sigh*. 3/5 — May 20th

#HeroesInCrisis #9: Heavy with metaphorically resonant rhetoric (such as in “#5,”) & a slew of compelling character interviews (which have been my favorite parts of the series), “#9” provides a decent end to what will be, perhaps, the most decisive “Crisis” in DC history. 4/5 — May 29th
