Overanalyzing Anime
Blog Owner & Lead Writer
In this new segment, I’m going to analyze different abilities & powers, listing the best & worst aspects of each. For my first one I’m going to focus on one of my favorite powers, the incredible power of the Green Lantern Ring!
The GL Ring is a semi-autonomous piece of alien jewelry that endows the wearer with the ability to harness the Emerald Light of Willpower to accomplish any number of unbelievable feats. It is also the primary weapon of the Green Lantern Corps.
The GL Ring is arguably one of the most powerful objects in the known DCU. With it, the user is granted super strength, the ability to travel through the vacuum of space, as well as access to knowledge of all known entities, languages, & locations in the observable universe. However, the most popular of their powers is the ability to create constructs with their rings - creating anything from an ant to a star - or anything in between. The power of the ring is essentially limitless.
As far as detriments, the first would be that the ring needs to be charged. While this may not seem like a serious issue, it could be if you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere - & by nowhere I mean *space* - & your ring notifies you it’s running low on power. You think having a low cell phone battery is bad? Think again. — The other detractor is the fact that you have to be chosen to have one. Your wanting to be a GL is not going to be enough to get you the ring, & if ever you do have the opportunity to get one, cherish it.. because chances are someone died for you to have the opportunity.
Perhaps the worst aspect of this power comes with the fact that with the power comes the *job.* In order to possess a ring you must serve the GL Corps., which means that you are beholden to the laws of the Guardians of the Universe. Not only that, but any order given to you must be carried out - failure to do so could ultimately result in losing your ring.
Tell me your thoughts on the GL Ring! Knowing all this would you want one, or would you rather go without? Also, let me know your thoughts on this segment!
