Overanalyzing Anime

Marvel Studios has an excellent track record when it comes to introducing young characters that audiences can’t help but fall in love with - whether it’s Baby Groot, Harley (from Iron Man 3), or, basically, the entire cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Well, Letiti Wright’s Shuri is no exception, as the young Princess is definitely one of the most entertaining characters in Black Panther.
I remember reading an article that described Shuri as being on par with Tony Stark in regard to her intelligence &, while that may be accurate, I also feel that it‘s quite an understatement. While she does have the benefit of working with a very versatile material, it doesn’t change the fact that she still plays a significant role in bringing the futuristic technology to fruition. Whether it’s the miniature EMP’s, the “sneakers,” or the new & improved nanotech Panther suit - I can’t imagine any of it was a simple task. In fact, it seems, from the latest Infinity War trailer, that Stark may have borrowed her tech when it comes to his newest Iron Man suit.
In addition to being one of the most intelligent individuals in the MCU, she’s also one of its bravest warriors. It would have been easy enough to confine her to the lab, but she’s so much more than just a scientist. As the next in the line of succession, it would make sense that she’s experienced the same manner of training as her older brother, & she definitely puts it to use as she dawns her gauntlets to take on the powered up Killmomger in the movies final act.
Two more things. 1.) I loved her sense of humor - even the “What are thoseeee?” reference; & 2.) I love that, even as his younger sister, she’s definitely her brothers keeper.
Throughout the course of this movie Shuri manages to prove time & time again that she’s anything but your average Princess. Really, she has all the makings of a powerful Queen & if there ever comes a time wherein T'Challa must step down, he has a more than worthy successor in his younger sister. • But what are your thoughts on her character?
